The Center for Apologetics Research is a non-denominational organization. Thus we pursue goals that are common to all Christians and do not use the Center's potential in our own interest or in the interests of denominations we belong to. In our ministry we strive to abide by the following ethical principles:

General Provisions

  • Christian apologetics ministry deals with important spiritual issues that define man's eternal destiny and his relationship with God and thus imposes great responsibility upon every minister.
  • God's Word, the Bible is the ultimate guidebook for the Christian apologetics ministry.
  • The Golden Rule of our Lord Jesus Christ ("Treat others the same way you want them to treat you" — Luke 6:31, NASB) is the indispensable principle of any apologetic engagement.
  • Apologetics is not about judging, destroying, or intimidating one's opponents. We are to contend for the Gospel truth (Jude 3), to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and to "to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence" (1 Peter 3:15, NASB).

In our ministry we strive...

  • ...to be honest with our opponents always and in every situation, which means that we do not resort to lies or deceit and do not withhold any information we possess even if it seems to be unfavorable to our beliefs.
  • ...to provide people with objective and correct information, which means that we do not falsify any documents or findings and do not use any falsified information received from other individuals and organizations.
  • ...not to humiliate and insult our opponents or engage in "witch-hunting," which means that we closely watch the propriety and tactfulness of our statements and publications and do our best to discourage the recipients of our information from engaging in unethical and illegal actions.
  • ...not to use our connections with authorities and law-enforcement agencies or stimulate negative public opinion in order to put pressure on our opponents.
  • ...not to disclose any confidential information without consent of individuals and organizations by whom it is submitted — even if this information is found to be useless or without basis in fact.
  • ...to be always guided by presumption of innocence (that is, to give those under research the benefit of a doubt), which also means that we don't publish any opinions or conclusions until we are reasonably certain of their accuracy.
  • ..to admit our mistakes and errors, both publicly and honestly, if any unobjective or incorrect information has been published, and to seek forgiveness from those who might have been harmed by such information.
  • ...not to use our influence or unique advantages of the apologetics ministry to get even with our personal offenders.
  • ...not to plagiarize.
  • ...to provide our colleagues and co-workers with exhaustive, precise and trustworthy information only and to warn them in advance about any doubts or uncertainties regarding objects of our common interest.
